How messy is this?

Thursday, May 8, 2008
A sort of senior level executive in my office to me and a colleague over lunch:

Colleague: I've been feeling awful lately.

Me: I hear you. My allergies have been killing me.

Executive: OMG...what are your symptoms?!?!

Colleague: Well...

Executive: OMG...don't even tell me. I'm the queen of the "I got its". Anytime I hear the symptoms of something, I say, "I think I got it."

Colleague: Well, I...

Executive: Like, last week, I had ureteral cancer.

Me: (stares blankly)

Executive: I'm not even kidding. So, I went to see my doctor the other day because I had a little blood in my pee.

Colleague: (drops jaw)

Me: That's a pleasant thought. **SMH**

Executive: I know. So, I had a little blood in my pee. And of course I didn't think I had assume I had a UTI, I assumed utrial cancer.

Me: (packs up lunch)

Executive: Alright, I'll stop.

Me: No, I'll go.

Sweet Jesus, is your Executive a lil crazy Chinese lady who talks really loud and waves her hands around wildly while using broken English?! Cuz that's my mom.

Although I think it was inappropriate to talk about that at lunch...maybe she or he thought it was cool to talk about it, because maybe she consider you and the colleague friends enough to do so. However I think it was more rude and kinda disrespectful, for you just to just pack up your lunch in the middle of this. I think you should show some sort of respect even if you considered, what they were talking bout to be disgusting or rude.

It may not have been a pleasant thought, but it's a fact of life people do get cancer, and they were expressing some of her symptoms. I just don't think you should have pack up your stuff, and left even after they asked you not too.

TMDI!! Wow.

I work in healthcare and this is what we do so it wouldn't have bothered me. I've heard things that made me wonder how people even walk. But I can understand how you were disturbed. There is a time and place for certain discussions and this wasn't it.

However, she must feel comfortable around the two of you because she shared so easily. It's better than her being a total B. I guess I would have just kept on eating and listened. It's how you get the major gossip about people who know.

LOL @ "Like, last week, I had ureteral cancer."
That is hillarious... I would have made the exec get up ad leave for that one lol

The subject was inappropriate. Who wants to listen to someone having blood in their urine while you're eating? You could've asked, "Can we change the subject please so I can enjoy my lunch?"

Oh my God! You are just too damn much. It took me like 30 minutes to actually comment on this because I kept reading it over and over and over and over again. You give me so much life. Whenever we do lunch, you have got to tell me this story in person so I can see your mannerisms and facial expressions. Those who haven't met you cant really laugh as hard as I am at this point

and i'm still fucking reading it! I cant stop!
