About Me

People call me a lot of names, a couple to my face, but you can call me Mr. Jones.

I am single and live in lovely and exotic (note the sarcasm) Baltimore, Maryland, with my eighteen-month-old dog, JJ, and a slightly younger and less fun palm plant.

I have an extremely exciting life.

I am a 24-year-old full-time slave to da man. I work in non-profit, so I guess somewhere down the line someone is benefiting. That's encouraging.

My Ma raised me primarily by herself and I thank her for that. I didn't curse until I was 12. I didn't drink or try drugs until the summer before I went off to college. I didn't even have pre-marital sex until I was...well, that's not important. She still did a good job.

I attended the University of Maryland and studied Political Science and African-American Studies. That may explain my positions, perspective and why I discuss some of the stuff some I talk about on this blog.

I have no idea how or why, but I started blogging in April of 2007. I guess you can say it's something I enjoy doing. I REALLY enjoy doing this if I got paid for it.

I'm a chill guy who can be a bit particular at times. I know how to tone that down though. I enjoy sports and driving through cities after it rains and people who appreciate life and mentally stimulating conversation over mixed drinks...or beer. It doesn't really matter. Oh, I like alcohol, too. But not in an alcoholic way though.

I like learning stuff and I read everything I can get my hands on. I don’t care if it's a cereal box, I'm reading it. I'm filled with lots of little random facts about stuff no one other than me cares about. I'm big on acquiring knowledge.

I am very receptive to different things i.e. cultures, foods, music, experiences, etc. I'm witty, funny, loving, goal-driven, kind, a good listener, and loyal.

I like to think I'm a pretty good writer, too.

I hope you enjoy what I have to say. If you don't, fuck it.

Tough Talk Tuesdays

I know what you're thinking. You're thinking...first the redesign, then the "of the moment" sections, now Tough Talk Tuesdays. This guy is doing a lot with this blog.

Well, first...I am doing a lot with this blog. It's a hobby.

Second, deal with it.

Third, this will be a lot of fun so give it a chance.

I've been trying to think of different things I can do to better engage my readers AND I've been wanting to dibble dabble in video blogging for awhile now. Tough Talk Tuesday is the perfect marriage (or civil union...I know who's reading this) of those two concepts. I know I'm not reinventing the wheel here. This concept has been or is being done by other bloggers, but I don't care. I'm putting my spin on it.

So, here's the deal. You guys will submit questions or topics via email that you want me to address and I'll respond to your emails via video that I'll post here (hopefully) every Tuesday.

I don't really care how crazy or insane the questions or topics are. Your questions can be silly or serious. I don't care. I might mention how stupid the question or topic is, but I'll still talk about it.

You can request anonymity or ask to be credited. I don't care. Again, all I care is that you submit questions and/or topics to be discussed. You can ask me whatever you like. I'll talk about it. Unless it's totally ridiculous or just flat-out disgusting or something.

So, I'm about to go set up a You Tube account and try to figure out how to work the video function on my camera. You are going to submit questions or topics to amerikas [dot] muse [at] gmail [dot] com.

Sorry for typing it out, but SPAMMERS and their goddamn web crawlers are getting all savvy and shit these day. If you're feeling lazy and need to stick with that mouse just navigate back to the home page and click the image in the contact me section. That'll get you through to my inbox.

I'm actually semi-excited about this.

I'm looking forward to talking about crazy shit, so don't disappoint!

A Note on Blog Etiquette

Dear Reader:

Do not assume that you know everything there is to know about me simply because you read my weblog on a regular basis. Remember, any judgements you make will be based on the information I have provided you. I do, however, welcome whatever opinion you form on me as a person, or my life as a whole but remember, you are a guest. This is my house.

If you have a real life relationship with me, remember that communication is very important. View this weblog as an online journal, no less sacred than a diary hidden between my mattress. Let me know that you read this site, especially if I didn't tell you about it personally. This is my outlet and I may not want you to read certain things I might write about you or others you care about, in order to spare your feelings or avoid drama. By reading this you agree to never relay any information you gather at their site to others.

Ex-friends, lovers and estranged family members who have been cut out of my life should refrain from reading this journal. If our relationship has ended, there is no reason for you to get daily updates on my life. If you simply can't help yourself, do it quietly, and never repeat what you read or use it to hurt me or so help me God...

My best always,

Mr. Jones
