The good life...

Wednesday, April 30, 2008
So often I (read: everyone who blogs) complain about life and how poorly things are going. I bitch about work and personal life and this and that so much that I often neglect to mention all the things I have going for me. Reality is, despite it all, life ain’t really all that bad.

Well, none of that today. This post is all about the good things and the positive in life.

------------------------------------------

The Job:

Very few people can truly be 100% content with what they do for a living. Unfortunately, I’m not one of them. But, I can say that I’m in a very pleasant situation. I live about 15 minutes from where I work, which is a plus. I work with really good people. There’s very little drama in my office. Everyone has their little annoying nuances, but I can’t really complain too much. It gives them character. We get little bonuses like free Nike stuff and gift cards and even actual bonuses on occasion. This place is flexible. I never have to worry about asking for time off or needing to come in late. I just shoot my boss an email and she’s fine with that. Most of all, we do good work that affects people who need it most. That’s somewhat fulfilling.

I’m also fortunate to work around tremendous leaders. The President/CEO, who is a former major leaguer and a recent baseball HOF inductee, is a stand-up, down-to-earth guy. He’s very cerebral and methodical and is a joy to be around. The CFO of my company can go from discussing for-profit finance principles to meeting with my non-profit to discuss resource development and federal funding reporting strategies without skipping a beat. I’m literarily awed by my executive director. His management style took some getting used to, but his incredible stewardship is undeniable. Each entity has capable leaders and great role models and potential mentors.

Health:

I’m in good health. I’ve never been bitten by any bugs and with my past, that’s saying a lot. I’m kidding. I’m fortunate to have been born with all my senses and extremities. Could I stand to lose 20 pounds or so? Sure. At least I’m not ugly.

Money:

I’m not rich, I’m not poor. I’d probably do a better job holding onto money if I stop spending so much on miscellaneous bullshit. I do, however, invest in the stock market and own a 401(k), which is more than most people my age can say. So...I can't really complain too much.

Personal Life:

They may not be strong in numbers, but I have really tremendous friends who are incredibly loyal and trusting. I can’t stress that enough. I’m fortunate to have good people who love and care for and respect me no matter what. That means a lot to me. I’m also fortunate to have been placed in situations that have allowed me to determine who deserves the title of friend and who should simply be reduced to a common associate, if that. My family is what it is. We aren’t the Brady Bunch, but we aren’t some of the crazy bitches you see on Springer either. Very middle of the road.

Personality:

I'm not a dick, which is a good thing. I'm social and likable and typically mesh well with most people. I'm not a recluse and I'm comfortable in my own skin. That's a plus.

------------------------------------------

Ok...I’m tired of writing now and I'm sure you're done with reading. Besides, too much positivity in one day turns my stomach.

Now it's your turn.

Think long and hard about this. What do you have going for you? I want answers, too. Everyone has something to feel good about.

Job: I love what I do. It gives me a challenge and I get paid pretty well. So for that I am grateful.

Health: I am a health nut so I am grateful that I can continue doing what I am doing. My mental health is very strong. It just takes time for me to let go and accept what is. Once I do then I am the happiest person in the world.

Money: I like being in the middle of the money line. My bills get paid with some extra money to save and I am thankful.

Personal Life: I am going through some things but I am learning and growing and that is what it is all about. Maybe one day I will be able to stop the dating game and have my last first kiss. Family life is cool as is. No need to rock the boat.

Personality: I am a take it or leave type of person. I strive for a peaceful environment which can be my ultimate downfall. I always want things and people to be OK.

Job: I do like the aspect of working from home a few days a week. My job does have its occasional perks and the folks on my team are great to work with.

Health: My health in general is good, blood pressure issues aside. It has definitely improved and I get a high from a good workout.

Money: Aside from the stock market sucking right now, I have a decent amount of savings and make enough to pay my bills.

Personal: My family as a whole isn't all that dramatic. There's definitely a lot worse families I could attached to. I have a great relationship with my guy. Every now and then we have to reel ourselves back in whenever it feels like we're drifting apart, but it's great being with someone I know cares for me and I care for him in return. I have a couple real good friends as well that I know would have my back in a heartbeat as I would theirs. They accept me for who I am.

Personality: I'm such a nice guy.

I think we always need to take sometime out to really see how much we have. I mean, it could always be worst. Damn, all of us have time to waste writing these posts, things can't be so bad.

Employment: I complain about my job however, I do enjoy my work most of the time; I work directly with clients and oversee five other employees. The work is rewarding most of the time and a great resume builder and the degree didn't hurt any.

Health: I can not complain being that I have been healthy my entire life with the exception of a few broken bones in the past and influenza each winter season. "I feel truly blessed." I really would be better if I did not eat junk food and have so much beer on the weekends, the weight issue.

Finances: I make a good living although I could be doing better but, I register no complaints and when I feel the need for extra ends I find part time teaching jobs or just work. I save as much as I can, very few investments mostly savings and 401K and other accounts. I have monies to treat me when I want something and worry little about cost, so I guess I am doing okay.

Personal Life: My personal life could use some improvements. I have not been as good to myself as I should have I owe myself a better life, I should not be dating instead I should be married and utilizing a good relationship. I have some soild friends and a handful of real good friends, ( I have lost many through the years). Overall I have a good life.

Personality: My personality is from hell! Seriously I am very personable, caring, loving and responsible. I tend to love to hard. I love to laugh and make others happy, I can clam a storm or throw a blizzard.

Let me take a stab at this and thanks for stopping by my blog hood.

Job: I love it, contracting is competitive and cool as hell and it pays, but I am looking forward to a regular gig in Texas or running my own business maybe buy another night club

Health: That is a top priority and it's all good HIV- 4/20/2008 and my health is great...get tested knowing IS beautiful

Money: Can't complain, but I should invest and save more, especially since I'm buying a house. I think I will save millions once my boys go off to college

Personal life: Can't complain love my family and friends are doing good looking at some possible personal changes but they are for the better....

Personality: I am a true Aries as best as I can explain I have a great personality but can be a knucklehead when need be...the negatives of my persona are I work on daily. I am a social creature just side eye people because they will try you...I keeps it 100.

I can say sooo much good, but you took up all the positivity air time!!! What in hell? Cummon!!!! Anyway...In most areas in my life I am pleasantly stagnant or neutral. I could be much better, or could me much worse. I could be progressing but I could be digressing. That is a positive note for me! I am consistent! lol
