ATTENTION BLACK PEOPLE: There's more to life than fried chicken.

Tuesday, April 28, 2009

This damn aftermath of that "Earth Day" special that Popeye's chicken had will not go away. I CAN NOT take this video. Not at all. You all I usually go in EXTRA hard on coonery like this, but I don't feel the need to on this one. These people do themselves in.

ULTIMATE DOOM @ some of the quotes:
"People got kids dat dey tryna feed for the special and you mean to tell me that we can't feed our kids because ya'll didn't order enough chicken? Ya'll knew ya'll were having this special almost two months ago...and dat's wrong."

"They should've had a stockpile of chicken for this day."

"I was tryna feed my family tonight. Can't get that bucket in now."

"We've been looking forward to this day."
Is fried chicken really what's poppin in the streets? Like, is it really THIS serious?

Oh, and UGH! @ there being NOTHING but black folks in this "news" piece. I've been to Rochester before. They could've found some White, Asian, or Hispanic chicken-seekers.

I'm not dealing with this foolishness right now. Not at all.

Can't see the video from the office, but I will say that I always buys enuf chicken for my boo and our little coon. LOL
It's really not that serious. I think Obama bought us the 'fuck the ignorant asses' card goin' forward. The highest office in these United States is held by a black man, married to a black woman with two black children...none of whom have been spotted fighting about Popeyes chicken. LOL

That was NOT news and never should have made the telecast. Did you see how the newscasters thought it was comical?

I have nothing else to say.

This is all just too much coonery for one post. I cant even deal.

And you're soooo right, Kenny. This isn't news, but they made it black news. **shakes head**

I have to go with Kenny too. This wasn't news, just another attempt to sterotype black people and their chicken. I just thank God the camera crew didn't stake out a watermelon farm that had run of fruit, because that would have been too much to handle.

and the lady at the end of the telecast made me want to slap a bitch something serious

Yea I'm a bit annoyed at the fact that they only 'filmed' black outraged people who couldn't get chicken. I mean, stawp! *Sigh...* Damnit, cook your own chicken!!!

This news segment is an outrage! A friend of mine (who was also disgusted by this) posted a link to this video on his facebook page. It says a lot about (local) news media if this is all they have to report on. This is NOT news. This is a disgrace. If these are the types of images that continue to be presented of our people, is there any real hope for change within our and the general community?

Barring one or two people, it wasn't coonery at all IMO. We need to stop being embarrassed about being associated with chicken and look at the deeper issue here. It was black people complaining about poor service in an establishment that apparently has a history of poor service. Any other non-black person would and should be equally irritated. The news station was trying to be cute, and frankly, I didn't appreciate it. I give my people a pass here. Now, if they were out there covered in chicken grease and acting a monkey doodle fool, it would be a cause for alarm.
