Copycat Disney CD draws dad's ire
Published: Dec. 28, 2007 at 6:55 PM

PORT ORANGE, Fla., (UPI) -- A Florida father says the "Disney" CD his 6-year-old daughter got for Christmas is anything but children's music.

When Jay Scott looked at the CD his daughter got as a Christmas gift, the music on it was actually from the Diplomats, a New York hip-hop group -- and it's not what Hannah Montana fans are used to hearing, WFTV-TV, Miami reported Friday.

"Even the radio mix is at least cleaner. It was quite explicit," Scott said.

The CD, a gift from a grandmother, was an exclusive product of Toys R Us, and had no indication on the packaging that the lyrics are not intended for children, the station reported.

"It was bought by a grandmother for a grandchild. It's got Disney written all over it," Scott said.

His message to parents: "Check what your kid's got," Scott said.

ok so I love tha blog, and im glad im back too... can't have these dudes gangin up on you! what people don't understand is, baltimore is where it's really at... as for this whole cd situation, im genuinely glad it happened. I have a 9 year old sister that lives and dies for hannah and I hear that shit all the time... I even subconciously sing it sometimes. MILEY IS THE DEVIL... SHE MUST BE CAST INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE LOL!!!

I routinely buy my nephews and nieces inappropriate shit...just recently I bought this PS2 game that included whores, drug addicts, beat downs, etc.... my sister called and asked if I could please run my choices through her...I said, "Uncle Cocoa's treasures are for my nephews and nieces' enjoyment only...so butt out. Long story short I'm being censored. LOL

Parent: You always have to be mindful of what your kids are listening to.

What are Disney comments on this situation? They need to explain this??

I worked for Tower Records when Tipper Gore was on her labeling rampage. I was 19 at the time and thought she was an old biddy who just needed to lighten the hell up. But now that I've got kids of my own, I gotta say that I appreciate a little warning. I don't agree with censorship of the art, but a label letting the consumer know about the "ingredients" seems appropriate to me. We got it on movies and games, why not music?

Cuz let me tell you, kids'll say the darndest things.

Thats obviously the manufacturers fault.

Im so sick of seeing & hearing people talk about this hannah chick.... shes like hillary duff some years back. as soon as shes legal it will all die down and she will dissapear off the radar like all the other disney robots. bad news is disneys probably already prepping her replacement.

Darius - I hear you, man. Trust me I do.

Jared - Thanks for the compliment, boo. Come back early and often!

Cocoa - Remind me to never accept any gifts you might give my nieces and nephews.

Kensilo - I think they've been contacted, but had no comment. Typical.

LA - Wait...not Pac tho.

Franki - Thanks for stopping by! And yes, kids do say something interesting things. (Everyone...check out her blog. She's a riot!)

Primo - You're so right about that.

I don't even know the little bitch. Honestly, if someone offered me a million bucks to pick her out of a crowd, I'd just lose.

I will tell you this. I was downtown the other day and she was having a concert here. Talk about gridlock. Those little white girls were looking homely and walking mad blocks to support that Hannah bitch.

hahahahaha i loooooooved this story!! nice that scott sounds very intelligent, too. "Check what your kid's got." WFTV's is in orlando. i would win that mil b/c i've had to cover that horrid story since the tix for the show here sold out in 5 minutes or something insane like that and parents have been irate ever since. the attorney general is all up in it.

okay, so I'm geting accustomed to Hannah Montana. My daughter watches her, and I'm even sitting down to watch it with her occasionally. Definitely not a good look.

And see what happens when you buy that exclusive ish for kids? Lesson learned!

Sounds like a packaging mistake that somehow got 15 minutes of fame. and don't worry, like most other young starlets; she'll be a ran-through has been soon enough.

It's no fun if you don't say anything.
