Meet Ms. Kevin Logan.
His high school principal in Gary, Indiana, allowed a female classmate to attend prom wearing a tuxedo. But when Kevin -- a male student who has worn female clothes to school for the past two years -- showed up in a prom dress, the principal didn't like that one bit. She actually physically blocked the entrance so Kevin couldn't get through.
Lambda Legal, the LGBT civil rights group, is now suing the school on behalf of the student.
Kevin Logan’s classmates rallied to his defense, arguing with their principal and asking that she let him in, to no avail. Some classmates even decided to forgo the activities inside in an effort to include their friend. So clearly it wasn’t Logan’s classmates that had a problem with his gender expression.
To justify her actions the principal pointed to a school policy that forbids “clothing/accessories that advertise sexual orientation, sex, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, profanity, negative social or negative educational statements.” Lambda Legal staff attorney James P. Madigan says:
“The fact that sexual orientation is lumped in with drugs and profanity in the school’s dress code is just plain offensive, but even more troublesome is that the whole policy is in violation of students’ First Amendment rights.”
Should this kid have been allowed inside the prom wearing his dress, pumps, new hair-do and make-up? What say you? Let me know.

I'll start it off. Put me in the 'I don't give a fuck what somebody else does as long as it isn't affecting me' category. I really don't see why people just won't let him live.
That's a no-brainer...yes, he should have been allowed in. The bigger question is why EVERYONE wasn't turned away, since they all dressed to express their own (or in the case of the young lady in a tux) some other sexual orientation. The school dress code policy was vague, illegal and just politically incorrect. It's high-time that these errors in judgement be punished. A better question is whether the principal should be fired for exercising poor judgement with regard to the health and welfare of students.
Not something that I would do, but hey to each his own. I don't see how this kid dressing like a woman affects me. The children didn't care. The principal was out of line here. Just because it annoys her is no reason to prohibit this kid's entrance.
Who cares the boy wants to come in a dress he aint hurting no one and I don't suppose it is much of a shock to the rest of the student body either. Live and let live. We live in different times. The principal is an ass.
His "rights" are not violated.
If he was showing his sexual orientation, then all girls need to wear baggy t-shirts and jogging pants. Every day.
Geesh.
Yes... No one at the prom is in any danger. So why not let him in and enjoy his prom. What? Is she scared that some guys classmates will asked him to dance with them? Drama in the schools!
A simple Yes
Mr. Jones - I know right. You're so smart. Why doesn't the world agree with you more often? It'd be a much better place. Thanks for your input. It's greatly appreciated.
Cocoa - I dunno about being fired. Disciplined, yes. I just don't think she should lose her job over it.
MP1 - I can appreciate that attitude. To each his own. More people need to subscribe to that ideology.
Kyon - An ass indeed.
The Captain - Did you forget to take your meds this morning?
m-dubb - Exactly. I see some girls who show enough tits to earn some extra cash just walking to school.
Kensilo - yeah...people are a mess.
Darius - Agreed.
Its interesting I mean if he's been going to school as a Butch Queen in Drag for two years did the Principal never notice her until this point? There is more to that story.
The student should have held the principal down while "Ms" Logan went through the door.
she probably got on some CYA shit, going overboard to make sure 'others' weren't offended. but it's not the 'others' prom, it was Kevin's.
and there's no way she couldn't have seen/heard about his dress code the previous 2 years.

It's no fun if you don't say anything.
